Organogenesis to Expand Into China Market
December 10, 2007
Gov. Deval Patrick's trade mission to China this past week is already starting to bear fruit.
Organogenesis Inc. of Canton, Mass.—one of the companies that sent a representative on the mission—announced on Monday that it had inked a memorandum of understanding with a leading China consortium focused on both stem cell research and regenerative medicine.
MassMedic—the trade group representing Massachusetts medical device companies— signed a similar document last week.
In Organogenesis' case, the company inked a memorandum with China's National Tissue Engineering Center in Shanghai, to first include the exporting of Organogenesis' tissue repair technology to the Chinese market and throughout Asia.
Future phases of the agreement are expected to include joint technology development and a potential manufacturing site in Shanghai to handle existing Organogenesis products.
Regenerative medicine uses living cells to replace or repair body tissue damaged by injury, disease or aging.
